Obituary:
Emerson Benton Willis, Sr, 70, of Temple, TX formerly of Wright City, OK passed away Monday, May 27, 2013 at Scott and White Memorial Hospital in Temple, TX. He was born March 24, 1943 in Talihina, OK the son of Dixon and Melba (Benton) Willis. Emerson graduated High School in 1963 from Chilocco Indian Agriculture School in Chilocco, OK and joined the National Guard with the 45th Infantry during his Junior and Senior years there. He attended and graduated from O.S.U. Tech School in Okmulgee with a Technical Degree in auto mechanics. Emerson was in the Army Reserves with the 95th Army Division and then he was attached to the “Hell On Wheels,” 2nd Armored Division. Later Sgt. Willis became attached to the famed 82nd Air Borne Division and instructed men in jump school training. After 20 plus years, he retired with the honor of an E7 Staff Sergeant. Emerson loved the military and would have been serving today if possible. He enjoyed fishing and traveling. He was a member of St. John Presbyterian Church in Rufe, Oklahoma. Emerson leaves to cherish his memory his wife, Helen Willis of Temple, TX; children, Sharolyn Flippo and husband, Bob of Kyle, TX, Emerson Willis Jr of Temple, TX, Shelia Willis-Reeves of Temple, TX, Wendy Brown of ElDorado, AR and Denise Erwin and husband, Brad of Kyle, TX; Grandchldren, Elizabeth Willis, Aaron Flippo, TJ Willis, Haven Ramirez, Nathan Trueblood, Josie Vasquez, Christopher Trueblood, Erika Flippo, Natasha Brown, Hope Reeves, Alexis, Willis, Shaden Willis, Ella Erwin, Reese Erwin, and Avery Erwin; great-grandchildren, Mikayla Bird, Katilyn Maus, Kyleigh Willis and Anthony Gonzales; sisters and brother, Carolyn Bohanan of Wright City, OK, Cleland Willis and wife, Sue of Idabel, OK and Linda Harrison and husband, Gary of Tulsa; numerous nieces, nephews , great-nieces, great-nephews, special caregivers, Loyce and Joyce Owens and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Dixon James Willis and Melba (Benton) Willis; brother-in-law, Virgil Bohanan, sister-in-law, Shirley Holt and many other family members.

Visitation:
A wake service will be held at Brumley Funeral Home, Friday evening May 31, 2013 from 6 pm - 8 pm

Service:
Funeral Services will be held Saturday, June 1, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at the Wright City High School Auditorium. Pastor Cleland Willis and Sister Terri Billy will officiate. Interment will follow at Slater Memorial Cemetery in Wright City.
